Differences between X-ray and MRI images of head, knee, and chest are:
- An X-ray will give an image of bones present in these body parts. On the other hand, MRI can give an image of soft tissue also along with the bone.
- The MRI gives fewer details of bones in comparison to X-ray.
- MRI will give a 3D image of body parts; on the other hand, X-ray gives images only in one plane.
- X-ray can be used to detect pneumonia, lung cancer etc.; MRI cannot detect these abnormalities.
Because of these differences, the image obtained in MRI is much clear than X-ray.
Similarities between X-ray and MRI images are:
- Both give images; in other words, both can give structural information of chest, head, and knee.
